Lakeville, Conn., (July 21, 2023) - WeatherTech Racing will start the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship FCP Euro Northeast Grand Prix from fourth on the GTD Pro grid for tomorrow’s GT only race at Lime Rock Park.
Jules Gounon (France) had the wheel of the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 with Mercedes-Benz of Billings, Montana support for the 15-minute qualifying session. The Frenchman put in a lap of 50.932 that will have him starting in the second row of GTD Pro.
“The WeatherTech Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 feels really good,” Gounon said. “The WeatherTech/Proton team is doing a great job. We are still off with the current rules, so we will have to try and be creative with the strategy and keep out of trouble in the race tomorrow. We have been able to do that the last couple of races and finish on the podium.”
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship FCP Euro Grand Prix will be televised live on USA and Peacock starting at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday. Radio Le Mans will carry the full race at IMSA.com, RadioLeMans.com, and SiriusXM Radio (XM 207, SiriusXM Web/App 992).
