WeatherTech Racing Heads to VIR for All GT Weekend

BOLINGBROOK, Ill., (Aug. 23, 2017) - WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Gunnar Jeannette (Salt Lake City, Utah) are heading to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin GT Challenge weekend, Aug. 25 - 27.

The team returns with its No. 50 WeatherTech Porsche 911 GT3 R for the VIR weekend that features just the IMSA GTLM and GTD cars. MacNeil has won (2012 in GTC) at the track located 20-minutes from Danville on the North Carolina, Virginia border. The rolling terrain of the 3.27-mile, 17-turn is a driver favorite with nearly every kind of turn in racing.

"The Riley guys have been working very hard on our Porsche to get it ready for this weekend at VIR," MacNeil said. "They have done a great job so far and we will be pushing hard this weekend for a top result. VIR is a very fast track that requires no mistakes. I'm looking forward to getting up to speed there this weekend."

"I'm looking forward to getting back out and racing our Porsche 911 GT3 R at VIR," Jeannette said. "Since Road America the guys have gotten to spend much more time getting everything ready and improving the knowledge base with the car, so I'm hoping that we'll be closer to the other teams that have been running the car all year long. The VIR layout is tight and twisty, with some sections that really reward high speed handling, so we'll try to crank on as much downforce as possible."

The IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Michelin GT Challenge Aug. 25 - 27 at Virginia International Raceway will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 (FS1) 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 27.
