WeatherTech Racing on Front Row for PWC SprintX

MacNeil qualifies second

MONTEREY, Calif., (October 7, 2016) – Cooper MacNeil and Gunnar Jeannette

will start the Pirelli World Challenge Series (PWC) SprintX race on the front row tomorrow.

MacNeil had the controls of the No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche for the 30-minute qualifying session this afternoon. He was able to post a fast time of 1:25.573 on lap seven to secure the second overall starting position for tomorrow’s 60-minute, two driver race.

“Qualifying went well,” MacNeil said. “I was able to find some time in the qualifying session compared to the previous practice. I was pushing for the pole, which we had for a little while, until the No. 23 Audi went a little quicker. I will run clean for the first 25-minutes and then hand it over Gunnar, hopefully in podium contention, and then he will take it the rest of the way.”

“Awesome starting position for our first SprintX race,” Jeannette said. “Cooper did a great job. He went a half-second faster than he ran all weekend. He did it in the right session. Hopefully we can convert the effort into a podium finish.”

“Cooper was able to lay down a nice lap in SprintX qualifying,” Alex Job, team owner, said. “He was able to find some time and really made it pay off. He and Gunnar have a lot of endurance experience, so we are used to doing driver changes. I like the way things look for our first SprintX race tomorrow.”

The Pirelli World Challenge series finale will run on Sunday, October 9 at 11 a.m. ET. The race from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will be televised on the CBS Sports Network Sunday, October 16 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
