Tune In Alert: Round 10 at VIR

The GT classes of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship take center stage for Sunday’s running of the Michelin GT Challenge at VIRginia International Raceway.

The GT Le Mans and GT Daytona classes tackle the scenic 17-turn, 3.27-mile circuit in two hours, 40 minutes of action. With the 2016 season winding down, the race could play a pivotal role in determining the eventual champions. The race will be televised live on FS1, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.

The weekend also features Round 8 of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge in Saturday’s Oak Tree Grand Prix, a two-hour, 30-minute race that will be streamed live on IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app, beginning at 1:55 p.m. Also streamed live will be a pair of races for both the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.

IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app will stream in-car cameras, live timing and scoring, and IMSA Radio’s play-by-play live on Sunday. IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app will also stream Saturday’s WeatherTech Championship qualifying, along with live timing and scoring throughout the weekend.

Friday, August 26 (All Times ET) On-track activity begins with Continental Tire Challenge practice at 10:25 a.m., with WeatherTech Championship practice beginning at 11:30 a.m. Qualifying for the Continental Tire Challenge gets underway at 6:35 p.m.

Saturday, August 27 Saturday’s schedule includes WeatherTech Championship qualifying, plus races for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Porsche GT3 Cup USA Challenge by Yokohama. WeatherTech Championship qualifying gets underway at 11:55 a.m., and will be aired live on IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app. Qualifying is followed by Round 8 of the Continental Tire Challenge, taking the green flag at 1:55 p.m.

Rounding out the action will be the opening 50-minute Lamborghini Super Trofeo at 10:45 a.m. The first 45-minute Porsche GT3 Cup USA Challenge race begins at 5:10 p.m.

Sunday, August 28 Sunday opens with a 20-minute warm-up for the WeatherTech Championship at 8:05 a.m. The second Lamborghini Super Trofeo race begins at 9:50 a.m., followed by the second Porsche GT3 Cup USA Challenge race at 11:05 a.m. The Michelin GT Challenge, Round 10 of the WeatherTech Championship, takes the green flag at 1:35 p.m. Live coverage on FS1 begins at 1:30 p.m. IMSA.com and the IMSA mobile app will stream in-car cameras, live timing and scoring, and IMSA Radio’s play-by-play.
