D. MacNeil and Jeannette to Start WeatherTech Racing Porsche from Eighth Row at Road America

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (August 6, 2016) – David MacNeil and Gunnar Jeannette will start the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase to run at Road America from the eighth row in GTD tomorrow afternoon.

MacNeil, founder and CEO of WeatherTech, had the wheel of the No. 77 WeatherTech Porsche for the 15-minute qualifying session today. Under the tuteledge of Jeannette, MacNeil has been able to post respectable lap times throughout the weekend. The duo will start the two-hour-and-forty-five minute race from the eighth row in GTD for the 4 p.m. ET start.

“The car is fantastic,” David MacNeil said. “We had the brake issue in the last practice, but the Alex Job crew had is ready for qualifying. For an amateur driver I am happy with my performance against some of the best drivers in the world. This is not what I do for a living, this is what THEY do for a living. God bless these guys who put so much into it that they can go so fast. I am honored to be on the track competing with them. I will be starting next to my son Cooper tomorrow as his time was disallowed. We will try and behave going into Turn 1.”

“So far so good we have our car qualified for the race,” Jeannette said. “David has been improving every session. We will see how it goes tomorrow. We will need some luck and some good strategy. We have a good car and if things go our way we will get a good result. We had a brake issue this morning. The guys changed brake pads and David said the car is much better under braking, so that is confidence inspiring for the race.”

“David did a nice job behind the wheel in qualifying,” team owner, Alex Job said. “He and Gunnar are working well together and David has improved every time out. I am not sure I will be looking at the screen on the first lap when David and Cooper take the green flag next to each other for the race tomorrow.”

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase will be broadcast live Sunday, August 28 on Fox Sports 1 starting at 4 p.m. EDT.
