WeatherTech Racing Ready for Home Race at Road America

TAVARES, Fla. (August 2, 2016) - WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Leh Keen (Charleston, S.C.) are ready for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase to be run at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin this weekend, August 5-7.

MacNeil and Keen come into the WeatherTech's home track looking for a strong performance. The team has consistently been toward the top of the time sheet in practice and are poised to translate that performance to the race. Both drivers count the four-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit located an hour north of Milwaukee a favorite. The duo sit eighth in points in the GTD driver standings with 169.

"I'm excited to be in front of my home crowd at my home track this weekend in beautiful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin," MacNeil said. "I think our WeatherTech Porsche GT3R should be alright at Road America and I'm looking forward to getting it up to speed this weekend. I'm excited to have my dad in the race this weekend as he wants to join the fun. Leh and I are due for a good result and we will push hard to achieve that this weekend."

"Road America is fast and awesome and it's also the home track for Cooper and WeatherTech," Keen said. "So it is important that we fly the Weathertech flag well and run strong for the local fans. The Porsche will be really fun in a couple of areas. Turn 1 is a fast entry after the long front straight so our entry speed will be a big improvement from last year. But of course we are really looking forward to rolling through the Carousel and into the Kink. The KINK!. The area of Road America everyone talks about is an extremely fast and trick right hander with no room for error. With the extra downforce and grip we will arrive at the Kink faster than ever! We saw a pretty bad BOP (balance of performance) deficit at Lime Rock. We were actually the best finishing Porsche. And we didn't get any BOP help for this race. So we aren't sure exactly where we will stack up on the ultimate top speed, which is so important at Road America. But we will have the home track advantage and the support from many WeatherTech employees. So we will be in the fight for sure!"

"Cooper and Leh are excited about the Road America weekend," team owner, Alex Job said. "We get a great group from WeatherTech headquarters on the weekend and everyone wants to perform well. I think the new Porsche will be exciting through the turns and then we will be struggling a little down the straights to the Lamborghini and Audi cars."

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase will be broadcast live Sunday, August 28, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT. Practice and qualifying sessions can followed at IMSA.tv and IMSA.com.
