Lakeville, Connecticut, (July 20, 2019) - WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Toni Vilander (Kankaanpää, Finland) will start the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park today from eighth in GTD.
“I think GTD is the most competitive class in IMSA, whether the prototypes are here or not," MacNeil said. "We have a good car, we made an adjustment right before qualifying, and it was good but just not enough. It is so close that two-tenths of second and you are back in eighth. But we’ve got a really good WeatherTech Ferrari, especially with tire degradation, so I think we can be strong late in our runs this afternoon. It is going to be a hot humid hard day of racing, but we are up for it.”
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix from Lime Rock Park will be streaming on the NBC Sports App and IMSA.com starting at 3 p.m. ET, Saturday, July 20th and televised on NBC Sports network starting at 9:30 p.m. ET. Fans can also listen to live race coverage on IMSA Radio on IMSA.com and RadioLeMans.com.
