MacNeil and Müller 11th in WeatherTech Racing Porsche at Road America

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (August 7, 2016) – Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Sven Müller (Germany) finished 11th in GTD in today’s running of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America.

MacNeil started the No. 22 WeatherTech Racing Porsche from the back of the grid next to his dad David MacNeil, driving the No. 77 WeatherTech Racing Porsche. He was able to get a good jump at the start. The young MacNeil drove a complete stint in the car and handed it over to Müller in the top five. As pit stops cycled through Müller was able to post competitive lap times for his first time running the four-mile Road America circuit. He brought the white and black WeatherTech Porsche home in 11th.

“The Porsche is a good car for the first handful of laps,” MacNeil said. “Our car seems to fall off faster than the competition. We have to push a lot harder to get the lap time out of the car. It is pretty plain to see what we are dealing with on the straight, they just run from us. We ran a good race, no mistakes and we are an 11th place car.”

“It was fun racing here at Road America,” Müller said. “I did a double stint. I was really pushing and I had some nice battles on the track. That is about all we could expect today. It was a great pleasure to be a part of the WeatherTech Racing and Alex Job Racing team. I hope to come back and race some more in the IMSA WeatherTech Racing Series.”

“We ran a mistake free race with the 22 WeatherTech Porsche today,” team owner, Alex Job said. “Sven and Cooper did a nice job behind the wheel. Sven was really pushing and just couldn’t make up any ground and keep the Audi and BMWs behind him.”

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will travel to Virginia International Raceway for the Michelin GT Challenge to run August 26-28.
