WeatherTech Racing Seventh at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park

BOWMANVILE, Ont. Can., (July 10, 2016) – WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Leh Keen (Charleston, S.C.) finished seventh in GTD in today’s running of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 Grand Prix run at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).

The weekend at CTMP had been a mix of sun and rain throughout the two days of free practice. The race was run under sunny conditions and 75-degrees. MacNeil had the wheel of the No. 22 WeatherTech Racing Porsche. He was able to drive the car up to fifth at the handoff to Keen a little over an hour into the race. Keen proceeded to drive in mid-pack as the Porsche was ill handling. At the checker he brought the black and white WeatherTech Porsche home in seventh.

“I was able to pass a couple of cars,” MacNeil said. “I had some fun on track battles and improved the position of the car over our qualifying position. The Alex Job Racing guys performed some nice pit stops, which helped keep us in contention today. Leh and I both had some issues with the cars handling. We both had push and loose issues. We were able to get some decent points today. Some of our competitors also had an off day.”

“It was tough out there today,” Keen said. “The car was really all over the place. At this fast CTMP circuit if the car isn’t just right it is difficult to run at pace. There just wasn’t enough grip in the car. We were able to hang onto it and get the most out of the day.”

“The weather on Thursday interrupted everyone’s set-up time with on-and-off rain,” team owner, Alex Job said. “In the warm-up we thought we had a pretty good car, but the track temperature was pretty cool. Once the race started and the track heated up the car just went away.”

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will travel to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut for the Northeast Grand Prix, July 22-23.
